Healthy Abel Story Begins…
In 2013, I suffered from high bad cholesterol and high blood glucose. I was given lowering-cholesterol statin drugs from doctor. After taken, my energy level went down throughout the day. I was so tired…
What I found out was, statin drugs inhibit process of mitochondrial biogenesis (energy creation) in the heart. When consumption for long-term, it weaken the heart and lead to various heart problems.
So, I stopped!
And I start a new diet, called ketogenic. It was a low-carb, high-fat meal.
By changing the diet, I able to lose weight and gains tons of proven benefits:
- Reduced inflammation
- Improve fat burning
- Mental clarity and sharpness
- Abundance energy
- Clear skin
- Mitochondrial biogenesis
- Anti-aging effects
- Reduced risk of chronic disease
Those who consume ketogenic diet, will increase blood ketones in their body. Your brain will choose either carbohydrates or ketone for energy cellular production.
When more ketones and less insulins present in the blood, your brain will use ketone ( a special kind of fatty acids ) as a fuel. The energy produced by ketone is larger than carbohydrate. That’s why ketogenic diet gives you mental clarity and zero brain fog.
Throughout ketogenic journey, I encountered few challenging problems along the way. When your body in the process of transition to fat-burning machine, you will encounter keto flu symptoms. This flu normally appear two to seven days after starting the diet.
Here’s the symptoms of keto flu:
- Foggy brain
- Difficulty sleeping
Noticed symptoms above are just mild during the transformation of fat-burning machine. Unfortunately, I not just having the mild symptoms and also admit to hospital ICU for 4 days 3 nights.
Don’t worry! This only happen for those who have poor control of blood glucose and never monitor blood sugar often. If you have this issue, I advised you to consult with your doctor before starting a new kind of diet.
Here’s the truth. High blood ketone in the blood and high blood glucose, will lead to Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Your body overly produce too much blood acidic, can be life-threatening.
In fact, DKA rarely happens to type 2 diabetes, but still need to concern about that.
After admitted to hospital ICU, I had learnt that how important was the correlation between blood sugar and blood ketone. I quickly studied the biochemistry biology for several days and found out that the main cause of DKA.
The ultimate solution was body needs insulin no matter what! With and without foods.
Do I stopped ketogenic diet after ICU?
The answer was a NO!
In fact, I continue ketogenic diet with more creative and fine-tuning approach.

The high-fat low-carb coffee is originally started from the company. Through my ketogenic journey, I made my BulletProof coffee, by blended with Australian unsalted grass-fed butter and MCT oils in Vita Max Nutritional Blender everyday.
The breakthrough of admitted to ICU taught me that there is something wrong with conventional ketogenic diet.
So, I started deep dive into health by reading lots of books and listening to podcasts everyday and hired a BulletProof nutrition coach to learn more about biohacking.
In one of the coaching sessions, what surprisingly me was, my coach told me that…
The approach of conventional ketogenic diet was deadly wrong and unhealthy.
The ratio of meal plate for conventional ketogenic diet consists of 60-70% portions of fats, 10-20% portions of proteins and rest portions carbohydrates. Many people was consuming too much fats such as belly porks, fatty chickens, little proteins and very little vegetables.
Yes! Those conventional ketogenic diet still gives you keto benefits such as weight loss, mental clarity and sharpness. But if you look at long-term, your body will be more inflammation, because modern meat especially chicken injected with steroid hormones contain more omega-6 than omega-3. Body inflammation can lead to inflammatory diseases, such that allergy, asthma, autoimmune disease, coeliac disease and inflammatory bower disease.
To prevent inflammatory diseases,
The recommended ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in the diet must be 4:1 or less.
What my coach recommends, half-percentage of plate must consists of colorful vegetables such as green, purple, yellow, red, orange, equipped with saturated (coconut oils) and unsaturated fats (olive oils) and little to medium proteins (eggs).
If you look at the recommendation above, the macro-nutrition does not matter here! Carbohydrates from vegetables are not the same carbohydrates in rice or noodle which halts the process of ketosis in the body.
There are few carbohydrates foods that recommended from BulletProof Diet Roadmap. Such that sweet potatoes, pumpkin, butternut squash and yam still can make you Bulletproof!
In general, BulletProof Diet Roadmap mainly focus on maximize mitochondria biogenesis and reduce inflammations while body still undergo ketosis! That’s the win-win situation.

One of my favourite and the fastest way get into ketosis was Fasting.
